Strengthening of strategic partnership between Algiers, Moscow testifies to countries' strong relations

Algeria and Russia signed on Thursday in Moscow, an""In-depth strategic partnership declaration" and several other agreements aimed at strengthening this partnership, which testifies to the solid historical and privileged relations between the two countries.

On the occasion of the State visit to the Russian Federation by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, at the invitation of his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, a joint declaration on the deepening of the strategic partnership and a total of 8 agreements in the fields of Justice, Telecommunications, Agriculture, Culture, Water Resources and the exploration of space for peaceful purposes were signed between the two countries at a ceremony in the Kremlin.

Linked by "strategic relations" for several decades, Algiers and Moscow entered a "new phase" in their partnership with the visit of President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who was given a solemn welcome at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow on Thursday.

The number of agreements and memorandums of understanding signed by Algeria and Russia "clearly reflects our ambition to broaden the prospects for cooperation," said President Tebboune, who said he was "satisfied with the level of relations between the two countries" and "the dynamic that has distinguished them in recent years."

According to the Head of State, the agreements signed "reflect our shared concern to strengthen and broaden bilateral cooperation to bring it up to the level of our historic relations, which go back more than 60 years," and he welcomed his counterpart on the occasion of his country's bank holidays, celebrated on 12 June.

For the President of the Republic, this visit "testifies to the deep friendship and quality of relations between the two countries," welcoming Russia's support for Algeria's accession as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, and Russia's support, once again, for Algeria's application to join the BRICS.

Describing his talks with his Russian counterpart as "fruitful, frank and sincere," in that "they reflect the level of privileged political relations and confirm our shared willingness to continue the political consultation between our two countries," the President of the Republic said that the two parties were working to "promote these relations by encouraging economic and commercial exchanges and establishing partnerships, in order to benefit from the economic complementarity between the two countries and from the experience of the Russian Federation in all areas of bilateral cooperation.
