The European program “Erasmus+”

The European program “Erasmus+”

Launched in January 2014, the EU program for education, training, youth and sport "Erasmus+" has as its main objective to invest in education, training, youth and sport in Europe with a focus on job creation and the internationalization of universities.

Intended for the realization of projects both between EU Member States and with the participation of third countries, including Algeria, "Erasmus+" is structured around three main actions: the mobility of people for the purposes of learning, cooperation in innovation and exchange of good practice and support for policy reform in the higher education sector.

Under the overall scheme of this programme, higher education plays a central role and benefits from one third of the overall budgetary allocation allocated to “Erasmus+”. Four million higher education students are expected to participate in mobility programs during the period from 2014 to 2020. New opportunities are also offered through the new “Erasmus+” program covering the next period 2021-2027.

On a practical level, this program aims, through its regularly launched calls for proposals, to finance Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees (EMJMD), scholarships for Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters students and for teaching staff, scholarships for credit mobility for students from partner countries, Capacity Building Projects for Higher Education (CBHE) and Jean Monnet Projects which consist of developing studies on the European Union.
