President of the Republic: Total Convergence of positions between Algeria, Zimbabwe on regional and international Issues

President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, highlighted on Saturday evening the complete convergence of positions between Algeria and Zimbabwe regarding international and regional matters, notably on promoting peaceful solutions to conflicts in Africa, respecting the sovereignty of states, and rejecting foreign interference.
"We share the same pride and heritage linked to the African liberation struggle, which motivates us to strengthen our historical relations," In a joint press statement with his Zimbabwean counterpart, Emmerson Mnangagwa, following their talks at the seat of the Presidency of the Republic, the President said.
The President emphasized that the Zimbabwean president’s visit to Algeria "reflects the common political will to develop these relations, crowned at the end of the 4th session of the Algerian-Zimbabwean Joint Commission by the signing of cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding in vital fields."
These new agreements and memoranda signed between the two countries represent "a valuable advance that strengthens bilateral cooperation and the legal frameworks that will establish the partnership we aspire to," added the President.
In this regard, "we have agreed to establish a Joint Business Council and encourage economic operators to explore investment opportunities in both countries," he added.
"I take this opportunity to invite you to participate in the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair, scheduled for next September in Algiers," he added.
The President also indicated that his talks with his Zimbabwean counterpart allowed them to "exchange views on current dossiers and issues at the regional and international levels."
During these exchanges, "we noted a total convergence of positions, particularly regarding the promotion of peaceful solutions to conflicts in Africa, the necessary respect for the sovereignty of states, the rejection of foreign interference, and the imperative to prioritize African solutions to African problems," he added.
The meeting was also an occasion to "exchange views and analyses on the current situation in several regions, notably the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip," he added.
"We reiterated our condemnation of the crimes committed against our brother Palestinian people and reaffirmed our support for their legitimate right to establish their independent state," the President said.
Emphasis was also placed on supporting the just cause of the Sahrawi people, as a matter of decolonization of the last colony in Africa. "We renewed our support for the United Nations’ efforts to enable the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination," he added.
The President took this opportunity, in his capacity as Coordinator of the African Union on the fight against terrorism and violent extremism, to reaffirm "Algeria’s commitment to continuing its role in supporting African Union efforts for peace and security and in the fight against terrorism, organized crime, and illegal migration."
Welcoming the visit of his Zimbabwean counterpart to Algeria, the President thanked him for the invitation to visit his country, indicating his intention to make the trip and meet him again in the capital of Zimbabwe.
